The night departure to the Caucasus
We meet at «Makedonia» Airport and depart with Aegean Airlines to Yerevan, via Athens. The overnight flight takes us to the South Caucasus beginning a journey that will connect two countries, two cultures and one shared Easter experience.

Yerevan: at the spiritual heart of Armenia
Echmiadzin, Tsitsernakaberd & Matenadaran
Arrival in Yerevan at 03:25 and immediate transfer to the hotel — our rooms are already available, allowing us to rest without waiting. A leisurely breakfast and time to relax follow, before our first introduction to Armenia.
Later, we depart for Echmiadzin, the spiritual centre of the Armenian Apostolic Church. We visit the Mother Cathedral and the museum of the Holy See, where some of the most important treasures of the Armenian Christian tradition are preserved — including the Holy Lance and a fragment which, according to tradition, comes from Noah’s Ark. Lunch at a carefully selected venue within the religious complex allows us to remain immersed in the unique atmosphere of this sacred place.
Returning to Yerevan, we visit Tsitsernakaberd, the the Armenian Genocide Memorial and Museum — a place of silence, historical memory and profound national consciousness.
The day concludes with a visit to Matenadaran, the institute housing thousands of ancient Armenian manuscripts, followed by a city tour: the Cascade, the Republic Square and, weather permitting, our first panoramic view of Mount Ararat. In the evening, a welcome dinner awaits us at a carefully selected Armenian restaurant, featuring local flavours, wine and a traditional performance.

Khor Virap, Garni & the Symphony of the Stones
The great symbols of Armenia
Today’s route takes us to some of Armenia’s most powerful symbols. Our first stop is Khor Virap, the historic monastery standing before Mount Ararat. It was here that Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned before the Christianization of the country, and here that the Armenian landscape reveals itself in its most iconic form.
We continue to the Hellenistic Temple of Garni, the only surviving monument of its kind in Armenia. With special 4×4 vehicles, we descend into the Azat Gorge to discover the “Symphony of the Stones”: enormous basalt columns resembling a stone organ, sculpted by nature itself.
At a local venue, we take part in the preparation of lavash, the traditional thin Armenian bread baked in the tonir oven, and enjoy a rich local lunch. Our final visit is Geghard, the rock-hewn monastery surrounded by the dramatic formations of the Azat Valley. Return to Yerevan.

Lake Sevan – Dilijan – Haghpat – Tbilisi
The transition to Georgia
We leave Yerevan and head north. At Lake Sevan, one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world, we ascend to Sevanavank to admire the lake landscape from above. The journey continues towards lush Dilijan, the calmer and more forested side of Armenia.
We then visit Haghpat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important monastic complexes of the medieval Caucasus. We enjoy lunch in the wider area before continuing towards the border.
The Armenia–Georgia border crossing is made on foot at the border checkpoint, with the support of our local partners, followed by a change of coach and tour guide. Travellers carry their own luggage for a short distance of approximately 50–60 metres. Arrival in Tbilisi, hotel check-in and a light dinner.

Mtskheta & the Night of the Resurrection
Holy Saturday in Georgia
The day begins in Mtskheta, the ancient capital and spiritual heart of Georgia. From Jvari Monastery, we admire the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers, one of the country’s most recognisable landscapes. We then visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, a site of exceptional historical and spiritual significance, and enjoy some free time in the historic centre.
We return to Tbilisi in the early afternoon for a first, brief introduction to the Old Town. We intentionally keep the main Tbilisi tour for Easter Day itself — when the city celebrates, and we will have the energy to experience it fully.
A light early dinner follows at Ortachala Restaurant, accompanied by a glass of Georgian wine. We return to the hotel around 16:30–17:00, allowing for meaningful time to rest. Later, we transfer to a carefully selected Orthodox church for the Resurrection Service. We remain until the highlight of the ceremony and the proclamation of “Christ is Risen”, departing at approximately 00:30–01:00.
On our return to the hotel, each traveller receives a carefully prepared Easter box containing two red eggs, traditional Easter Paska bread and a small bottle of Georgian red wine.

Orthodox Easter in Tbilisi
Supra, tamada & the festive city
After the night service, Easter Sunday begins slowly, with breakfast and free time. There is no rush — we allow the city to move at its own festive rhythm.
At midday, we take part in an authentic Georgian Easter supra at Lisi Wine, in a private space reserved exclusively for our group. The table fills with traditional Easter and Georgian flavours, while the tamada, the master of ceremonies of the Georgian table, guides the toasts. Free-flowing Georgian wine, water and approximately one hour of live polyphonic music create a meaningful and private celebration, far removed from the atmosphere of a typical tourist show.
In the afternoon, we discover Tbilisi at its most festive moment: from the Metekhi district, we continue to the Old Town and take the cable car up to Narikala. We walk through Abanotubani with the domes of the sulphur baths, through Leghvtakhevi Gorge with its small waterfall, and among wooden balconies, the Bridge of Peace and the historic neighbourhoods. The evening remains free — or, for those who wish, with a private experience at Tbilisi’s historic sulphur baths..

Kakheti: among vineyards and qvevri
The world’s oldest wine tradition
We depart for Kakheti, the historic wine-producing region of Georgia. Here, the tradition of winemaking dates back thousands of years and remains alive through the qvevri, the large clay vessels buried in the ground for fermentation and ageing.
The family-owned Javakhishvili Cellar opens especially for our group, despite the day being an official public holiday. In a private space, we discover the qvevri method, taste two wines and take part in the preparation of traditional bread and churchkhela. This is followed by a rich Kakhetian lunch accompanied by a glass of Georgian wine.
We continue to Bodbe Monastery, associated with Saint Nino, and Sighnaghi, the small walled town overlooking the Alazani Valley. The cobbled streets, wooden balconies and distant peaks of the Caucasus complete one of the most atmospheric days of the journey. Return to Tbilisi.

The Greater Caucasus: Ananuri – Gudauri – Kazbegi
The Georgian Military Road
We follow the Georgian Military Road towards the Greater Caucasus. Our first stop is Lake Zhinvali, an artificial reservoir, and the fortified Ananuri complex, one of the most photogenic points along the route. As we ascend towards Gudauri, the landscape becomes increasingly impressive. Weather and road conditions permitting, we stop at the Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument, overlooking the gorge.

Μετά από ένα ζεστό τοπικό γεύμα επιστρέφουμε στην Τιφλίδα. Τα δωμάτιά μας παραμένουν διαθέσιμα μέχρι τη νυχτερινή αναχώρηση. Το βράδυ συναντιόμαστε για το αποχαιρετιστήριο δείπνο με τοπικές γεύσεις και παραδοσιακό πρόγραμμα. Tο τελευταίο κοινό τραπέζι μιας διαδρομής που ξεκίνησε κάτω από το Αραράτ και ολοκληρώνεται στις πύλες του Μεγάλου Καυκάσου.
